I believe that everyone experiences situations in life where they need assistance. We often ask those close to us for advice and guidance as we work through these issues. Therapy is a very intentional way to do just that, but with the consistent and focused guidance of an experienced expert. When you walk into my office, you will enter into a shared waiting room area. Once here, I ask that you to text me to let me know you have arrived. If you need to complete any paperwork, it will be waiting for you with my name on it and your appointment time.
The first session involves me getting to know you and you getting to know me. We start by going over confidentiality and details about the therapy process, then I do an assessment with the individual or family to determine the best way to address the situation. We establish goals to work on, and I give assignments for clients to do in-between session. Therapy is most successful when you are not only working inside the therapy room, but outside as well. Each session we will look at both steps forward and backwards in order to keep pressing on toward our goal.
I utilize emotionally focused and solution based theories in my practice. I look at attachment needs as well as past successes to build toward client goals.
